Founded in 2019, Lexicon Tech is a booming startup. The company is expanding fast, growing its client base in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Singapore, and the Middle East and African regions. What makes Lexicon a phenomenal success is its commitment to people. Here, non-tech professionals discuss how Lexicon is helping them build exciting, rewarding, and future-proof careers.
Janith Perera: Account Manager
I started my journey as an ERP consultant with little technical knowledge, and now I am an account manager, so there is no limitation to what a non-tech professional can achieve in a tech company like Lexicon. Here, you don’t need a tech background to start an exciting career with ample prospects to learn and grow. However, there is enough training geared to help you understand how technology works and how their application can elevate customer experiences leading to better value creation.
If you are driven and keen to take on new challenges or explore another area of the business, you can always discuss it with the management, who have an open-door policy. They are more than happy to help you move beyond your comfort zones and help you focus your strengths on areas of the business that best suit you. Another thing I love about my job is that it does not confine me to a desk
Yashodha Lakshini: Associate Functional Consultant – Business Applications
I began my career as a trainee at an audit firm, and I quickly realized how technology was helping finance professionals to keep records, analyze data and forecast more effectively. When I got the opportunity to join a tech company, I grabbed it. It was a risky move. I was training to be an accountant, but Lexicon has given me the space to grow in that profession, and I aim to become a Chartered Accountant soon.
I am relishing every moment with Lexicon. I am learning about ERP right now, and it is helping me not just connect the dots but delve deeper into how a business operates. I believe I made the right decision to join Lexicon because I am getting a unique insight into the digital world, helping me transform into a modern accountant with the skills necessary to propel enterprises into the future.
Prasad Lakmina: Associate Functional Consultant – Business Applications
My background is in banking and finance. I worked for the property arm of a leading state bank for several years, but the boredom was too much for me, and I yearned to be part of something more. Joining Lexicon was the best thing I did in my career because it opened a world of opportunities. I am continuing to pursue further studies in finance and taking the unconventional step of not working for a financial institution. However, working for a tech company like Lexicon has been an uplifting experience. Every day, my appreciation for finance and technology and how they can together transform the world grows deeper. And I am grateful for the opportunities given to me to build core tech skills, helping mould myself into a more-rounded finance professional.
Dulan Kavinda: Associate Functional Consultant – Business Applications
My background is in accountancy, having worked for an audit firm, and today I am reading for my chartered accountancy while honing my skills and building my career at Lexicon, a dynamic and fast-growing tech company expanding beyond Sri Lanka. I decided to deep-dive into the inflection point of finance and technology to become a more holistic, futuristic finance professional. And that is why I joined Lexicon.
I knew next to nothing about ERP systems, analytical tools, or SQL languages, but now I have some knowledge about those things and am still learning. Accountants and finance professionals will have to move with technology and understand how it works and its transformational impacts to be relevant in their professions. I believe I made the right choice to join Lexicon because it is the best place to be to understand everything there is to know about the inflection point between finance and technology
